Alex Magee, Lecturer at Atlantic Technological University (ATU) Sligo, joins the judging panel of the Facilities Management Awards 2026, bringing nearly three decades of professional experience across Facilities Management, Building Services, and Construction.
Since joining ATU Sligo in 2020, Alex has played a pivotal role in advancing education in Facilities and Building Services Management, currently serving as Programme Chair for the BSc (Hons) in Facilities and Building Services Management.
His career spans 29 years, beginning as an Architectural Technologist, transitioning to Building Services Engineer, and later Principal Electrical Designer for a leading M&E consultancy. Alex subsequently held senior roles in the public and education sectors, including Asset Manager for a major Social Housing Association and Maintenance and Facilities Manager, optimising operational efficiency across critical infrastructure.
Chartered with both the CIAT and CIBSE, Alex combines technical expertise with strategic leadership, empowering the next generation of facilities management professionals while contributing to the development of sector standards.
As Judging Coordinator, Alex will bring his expertise as Facilities Management Awards is set to recognise excellence across categories such as Overall Excellence in Facilities Management, Facilities Management Leader 2026, Total FM Service Provider of the Year, Specialist FM Service Provider of the Year, and Cleaning Service Provider of the Year.
Finalists were announced last 15 December 2025, with the awards gala scheduled for 11 March 2026 at Royal Dublin Convention Centre, where the industry’s top performers will be celebrated.
This recognition underscores the growing standards within the sector and highlights how expertise, innovation, and leadership continue to shape Ireland’s facilities management community.
