RS Ireland has announced a multi-million-euro investment in a new distribution centre in Ballymount, Dublin, as the company expands its logistics infrastructure to support future growth and operational efficiency. Water Magazine UK reports that the company expects to relocate to the new facility in spring 2027.
The new distribution centre at the Apex Hub logistics park will more than double RS Ireland's warehouse capacity to approximately 4,174 square metres, enabling the business to increase locally held stock while supporting continued growth across its nationwide customer base. The expansion is also expected to create new jobs across a range of business functions over the next three years.
Designed to accommodate future automation, the Ballymount facility offers improved accessibility through its proximity to the M50 and provides additional space to strengthen inventory management and distribution operations. The investment reflects the company's long-term strategy to enhance service delivery while supporting growing demand across Ireland's maintenance, repair and operations sectors.
The development also places a strong emphasis on sustainable facilities management. The building is expected to achieve LEED Gold certification and a BER A3 energy rating, with environmental features including rooftop photovoltaic panels, air-source heat pumps, electric vehicle charging infrastructure and energy-efficient LED lighting with motion and daylight sensors.
From a facilities management perspective, the investment demonstrates how modern industrial facilities are increasingly designed to combine operational performance with sustainability objectives. Warehouse developments are placing greater emphasis on energy efficiency, automation readiness and resilient building infrastructure to support long-term business growth while reducing environmental impact.
The new Ballymount facility marks the next phase of RS Ireland's operations after more than 50 years at its current Rialto site and reinforces continued investment in Ireland's logistics and industrial property sector.
