Sodexo has been approved onto the Government Commercial Agency’s RM6378 Facilities Management & Security Services framework, adding its expertise to a new procurement route covering a broad range of public-sector estate requirements.

The framework combines services previously covered by separate agreements, bringing Total Facilities Management, Hard FM, Soft FM and security services under one structure. The Government Commercial Agency’s framework includes asset and building maintenance, cleaning, waste management, catering, guarding, technical security, reception and CAFM services.

With an estimated value of £120 billion, RM6378 provides public-sector organisations with access to suppliers that have already undergone a procurement process. It is available to central government departments and wider public bodies, including local authorities, healthcare organisations, emergency services and education providers.

For facilities managers, the framework is significant because it brings a wider range of operational services into a single procurement environment. This can support organisations managing complex estates where building maintenance, cleaning, security, reception and other services need to work together.

The framework also allows buyers to tailor requirements around specific priorities. The Government Commercial Agency highlights the ability to incorporate social value objectives and sustainability outcomes into individual procurements, giving public-sector FM teams scope to reflect wider organisational priorities in their specifications.

Sodexo’s inclusion adds an established FM and services provider to the framework. The company has worked with government and public-sector organisations for more than 30 years and provides services spanning facilities management, food services and security.

The Sodexo announcement said the appointment will allow the business to build on its existing government-sector work, while the framework provides an established route for future public-sector opportunities.

Industry coverage has also highlighted the breadth of the new agreement, with Public Sector Catering reporting that the framework covers services ranging from catering and cleaning to security, asset and building maintenance.

For the sector, the lesson is direct: bringing FM and security services into a more unified procurement structure can help public-sector estates access established expertise while giving facilities teams greater flexibility to shape services around operational and sustainability priorities.
