Pleasington Golf Club in Lancashire has unveiled a £500,000 (€585,000) facilities and course investment programme, titled Next Level, covering infrastructure upgrades, course conditioning and member experience improvements across its heathland estate in a development of direct relevance to FM professionals managing sports and leisure venues.
Golf Business News reported that the programme builds on the club's previous five-year Good2Great initiative and was developed following extensive feedback from members, visitors, agronomists and course assessors.
The investment spans seven focus areas: green complex enhancements covering design, drainage and water management; heather, gorse and tree management across the course environment; infrastructure investment including robotic mowers, irrigation and drainage systems; fairway, tee and pathway improvements; new grass tees, practice bunkers and upgraded putting greens; people and management development through coaching and training; and targeted special projects to further elevate the overall club experience.
The inclusion of robotic mowing and upgraded irrigation systems reflects a growing trend among sports and leisure operators to embed automation and water management technology within their estates, reducing operational overhead while maintaining premium presentation standards.
Mark Bleasdale, general manager at Pleasington Golf Club, said: "Following extensive feedback from our members, visitors, agronomists and course assessors, we are proud to introduce the Next Level project. This initiative reflects the insights of our key stakeholders and sets out a clear vision to build on the outstanding experience that Pleasington already has on offer."
The club is ranked among Golf World's Top 200 England Courses and Golf Monthly's Top 200 UK and Ireland courses, and is attracting international visitors this summer as golfers travel to the North West for The Open Championship at Royal Birkdale.
