OCS, a leading UK facilities management and security services company, has been awarded a new contract with retailer Tesco, covering approximately 300 stores across Scotland and Northern Ireland.

According to a Facilitate Magazine article, the deal continues a 19-year partnership between the two organisations and will see around 300 Tesco security staff transfer to OCS under TUPE regulations.

The contract includes in-store guarding, customer-facing safety support, and coordinated mobile patrols across Tesco’s regional estate. An estate ambassador model will link individual stores to local networks, enhancing crime prevention and community intelligence sharing.

As part of the agreement, OCS will provide an induction and training programme for transferred staff, focusing on customer-service-led guarding, incident response, and vulnerability awareness. Technology will support service delivery, with data-led scheduling for mobile teams and incident management systems designed to improve visibility and engagement with local authorities.

Sustainability initiatives are integrated into the contract, including reduced vehicle use for mobile teams, carbon-impact assessments, and environmentally conscious operational approaches aligned with OCS’s internal systems.

Steven Moore, managing director for security UK at OCS, said: “This contract reflects the trust built over 19 years and our shared commitment to creating safe, welcoming, and resilient environments. Our colleagues will bring experience, care, and professionalism to every store they support.”

The arrangement also incorporates a community engagement and social value programme, with strategies covering recruitment, volunteering, school and youth engagement, and participation in Business Improvement Districts and Business Crime Reduction Partnerships.

The new Tesco deal demonstrates OCS’s continued expansion of integrated facilities management and security services in the retail sector, combining operational efficiency with social and environmental responsibility.
