Downes EUROSPAR Rathkeale has completed a €200,000 programme of improvements during 2026, with further works planned later in the year, creating a broader opportunity to modernise the facilities and operational infrastructure of the established Limerick supermarket.

The programme includes a new electronic point of sale system, electronic shelf labels, a Reverse Vending Machine and improvements to the bakery, food counters and preparation areas. The reported investment programme also includes upgrades to back-of-store facilities, newspaper and magazine units, interior and exterior signage and the car park.

For facilities management, the project demonstrates how investment in an existing retail asset can address both customer-facing infrastructure and the operational areas that support day-to-day activity. Upgraded preparation and back-of-store facilities can provide opportunities to improve workflows, while new digital systems can support more efficient stock management and store operations.
