Arterex has acquired Synecco, a Galway-based medical device contract development and manufacturing organisation, in a move that expands its regulated manufacturing and specialist facilities footprint in Ireland and mainland Europe. The acquisition brings additional cleanroom, non-cleanroom, and advanced production environments into Arterex’s global operations.
Founded in 2004, Synecco operates a design centre in County Galway and a manufacturing facility in County Clare, supporting medical device clients across Ireland and Europe. The company is FDA-registered and also maintains an operational presence in China.
Its facilities include extendable cleanroom and non-cleanroom production areas, an in-house metrology laboratory, and a dedicated tool maintenance workshop, all of which place facilities management at the centre of operational performance.
“Synecco’s capabilities in design and development, including in structural heart technologies, injection molding, and assembly expands the breadth of our product offering in Europe,” said Arterex CEO Jeff Goble. “Synecco is a trusted partner for many leading medtech companies, and Arterex brings increased resources to support Synnecco’s accelerated growth.”
For facilities management professionals, the deal highlights the growing importance of maintaining compliant, scalable, and highly controlled manufacturing environments. Cleanroom performance, equipment maintenance, environmental monitoring, and regulatory readiness are critical to sustaining output across medtech production sites.
Synecco Managing Director Tony Doherty said: “We’re excited to embark on this strategic partnership to create new opportunities. Arterex’s global resources and dedication to innovation, quality, and collaboration aligns perfectly with our vision for the future.”
Arterex was launched in 2022 by London-based private equity firm Investindustrial following the combination of Formula Plastics, Kabo, Luc & Bel, and ModenPlast. The company is headquartered in Scottsdale, Arizona, and has since completed multiple acquisitions, including NextPhase, Micromold, Phoenix, Adroit, and Xponent Global.
