ABB and Samsung Electronics have announced an expanded partnership to integrate building intelligence and enterprise internet of things (IoT) capabilities, supporting more connected and data-driven facilities management across commercial buildings.
The collaboration links ABB Ability™ BuildingPro with Samsung SmartThings Pro through a cloud-based integration designed to help building owners and operators access operational data, building controls and performance insights within a connected management environment.
According to the companies, the integration responds to increasing pressure on property operators to manage more complex building portfolios while improving efficiency, sustainability performance and user experience. Industry reporting noted that the solution combines ABB’s building management capabilities with Samsung’s enterprise IoT ecosystem to create a more unified operating model.
Through the integration, operators can access information across lighting, climate, shading, access control and occupancy systems alongside energy monitoring data. The platform also provides analytics intended to support building performance management and operational decision-making across offices, retail environments and larger commercial facilities.
For facilities management teams, the development reflects growing adoption of connected building technologies that enable greater visibility into asset performance and day-to-day operations. Integrating building systems into a central management layer can support predictive maintenance approaches, reduce manual intervention and improve coordination across multiple sites.
The partnership also introduces a hospitality-focused solution using ABB i-bus® KNX and NETxAutomation software to support guest room integration with Samsung SmartThings Pro. The model enables occupancy-based energy management and centralised oversight while allowing phased deployment across properties.
From an occupier perspective, the integration supports greater personalisation through mobile control of room conditions and selected in-room functions without requiring additional applications.
The solution will be demonstrated across three proof-of-concept locations in Germany, the Netherlands and Denmark throughout 2026. These sites are intended to showcase practical applications of connected building operations and explore how digital infrastructure can support future workplace and property management strategies.
